Wonthaggi and surrounds really does "have it all!"

Being the main shopping and business district between two major tourist destinations, makes Wonthaggi a busy place to be!  Whilst still feeling like a quaint rural town! 

Wonthaggi is steeped in history, and we encourage all visitors to hear the interesting tales from our coal mining heritage by visiting The State Coal Mine - Wonthaggi's number one attraction!  

You can find the orginal poppet head whistle in Apex Park that blows every day at 12noon.  This was used at the Coal Mine to indentify the change of shifts.

Whilst in Wonthaggi why not visit some of our beautiful coastline!  Kilcunda is a beautiful place to visit for a day at the beach as well as Cape Paterson both only 7k's from town!  Here you will find less crowded beaches that are just as beautiful as the main tourist hotspots!  For younger children Cape Paterson is great as it has a calm bay and a rockpool ideal for swimming in! 

Whatever the weather, Wonthaggi is a great place to be!
